1945 - 1995

1950. Thanks to the cooperation with the architect and furniture builder Karl Nothhelfer, the wooden skid chair is developed. VS holds the patent on this much copied school-chair classic, which to this day is still being manufactured in large numbers.

1960. VS achieves a pioneering process innovation: the development of the LIGNOdur school-table top. It offers a new standard of robustness which to this day remains unsurpassed – and last but not least a convincing and environmentally friendly recycling product.

1974. The trend towards tubular-steel furniture is sustained. VS produces the U-framed skid chair in tubular steel – at first with plywood seat and backrest, later however, as a further VS innovation, as an air-cushion chair with recyclable polypropylene seat and backrest. The tubular-steel air-cushion chair proves to be a great VS success.

1985. VS expands its range step by step to include office and property furniture.

1988. At the Orgatec trade fair in Cologne VS presents a new writing desk with irregularly shaped (freeform) top by Günter Behnisch. This B&P design is the starting point for a comprehensive office-furniture system which today goes by the name of Series 901.
